A leap of faith

I have a story to tell. It’s messy and full of pain, but it is an awesome example of God’s grace. I like to write and I love to talk and my therapist said my experiences could help other women. I couldn’t make the scared, excited, panicked feeling go away as I left her office. I found myself thinking about the possibility of a book. I’m a history teacher, not a writer, so I laughed the unfathomable thought away. Two days later I received an email from Proverbs 31 Ministries inviting me to She Speaks, a conference for women who have a story to share. I couldn’t believe it. God wants me to do this!

So here I am in Charlotte, NC having just attended an amazing event. Authors and speakers filled the audience of 800 women from 42 states and 5 countries with inspiration and knowledge for our journey. I met amazing authors whose books have inspired me along my journey. While this will not even come close to the works of Lysa TerKeurst, Renee Swope, Shaunti Feldhahn, and Chrsitine Caine, it was motivating to meet them and hear how God has trusted them. I am still scared, but mostly excited, by this new journey that God has called me to. So I will take this leap of faith…..will you join me?

  1. I feel the pull to join you in this leap of faith, too. It takes faith to make writing a priority in the midst of everything else, especially when it feels so small. You and I can keep in mind: He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it! (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
